A multifaceted talent in the Indian entertainment and advertising industry. An acclaimed lyricist, screenwriter, and poet, Prasoon Joshi is known for weaving the rich tapestry of words into unforgettable songs and scripts.

Joshi's Journey

Prasoon Joshi was born on 16th September 1971 in Almora, Uttarakhand. The boy from the small yet picturesque town went on to do big things.

Embarking on a journey as an advertisement copywriter, he soon expanded his horizons to become a revered screenplay writer, script maestro, and evocative lyricist. In just ten years’ times, Prasoon proved his creative mettle in diverse fields, from journalism and publishing to advertising and Bollywood.

Prasoon’s Literary Inception

At the tender age of seventeen, he unveiled his maiden literary work, "Main aur Woh" (meaning 'a conversation with myself'). Drawing inspiration from Frederich Nietzsche’s magnum opus, “Thus Spake Zarathustra”, this was just the beginning.

Subsequently, Prasoon enriched the literary world with two more books – “Dhoop ke Sikke” and “Sunshine Lane”

A Melodic Ascent in Bollywood

From a young age, Prasoon's passion for words and storytelling steered him towards Bollywood. As he matured, he etched his mark as a revered film songwriter, screenwriter for Hindi cinema, and dialogue architect.

From Classroom to Cannes

Prasoon's academic journey began with a Bachelor's and Post-Grad in Physics. But it was during his MBA at the esteemed Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, that he was drawn to the world of advertising. With an aspiration to blend his cultural affections with commercial acumen, advertising became his chosen arena.

Conquering the Ad World

His inaugural tenure with Ogilvy & Mather in New Delhi spanned a decade, marked by numerous creative accolades. In 2002, he transitioned to McCann-Ericsson, climbing ranks swiftly.

By 2006, he held dual roles: Regional Creative Director for South and South-East Asia and later, Executive Chairman for McCann Worldgroup India. His genius behind the iconic ‘Thanda Matlab Coca-Cola’ ad featuring Aamir Khan clinched the Golden Lion at Cannes in 2003, while other campaigns, like Happydent, are hailed as India's advertising best.

Of Awards and Accolades

In 2007, his lyrical prowess in "Fanaa" won him the Best Lyricist Award. Seven years later, his contribution to "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" fetched him the International Indian Film Award for screenplay and dialogue. The Indian Government, acknowledging his relentless creative spirit, honored him with the coveted Padma Shri in 2015.

Steering the Cinematic Ship

Prasoon's cinematic journey commenced in 2001, penning poignant lyrics for "Lajja." But 2017 saw him undertake a significant role as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Titles and Honors

His prowess in visual communication crowned him "The Ad Guru of India." Beyond national boundaries, he was recognized as the Young Global Leader in 2006 by the World Economic Forum's affiliate.

Beyond the Limelight

Behind the scenes of his illustrious career, Prasoon finds joy in his personal life. Married to Aparna, a fellow ad maven, they're blessed with a daughter, Aishaanya, who aspires to embrace and extend her father’s celebrated legacy.
